Do you need to add a new webpage to your website? If so, then you've come to the right place! In this step-by-step article you'll learn how to navigate the WEO Platform to add a page to your site. Follow the instructions below to learn how!
Note: If you follow these steps but do not see the Create New Page button in Step 3, please reach out the Client Experience Team to make sure you have the appropriate permissions set in your User Profile to make these changes.
1. Login to the WEO Platform. If you've already logged in and navigated away from the Main Page, navigate back to the Main Page.
2. You will now see the Main Page in the Platform. On this page, front and center, is a section called Your Services. Click on the icon link labeled Website.
3. The View & Edit Website page will load. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and the Templates Available for New Webpages section. There should be only two templates to create a page from, the Homepage and the Subpage. Note: Never create a page from the Homepage template, only use the Subpage template. If you have more than one type of template, reach out to the Client Experience Team to learn which template to use or to simply have us create the page for you. Locate the Subpage template and on the right-hand side under Actions, click the Create New Webpage button.
4. In the New Page Name:* field under Page Name, enter the name of your new webpage. Then click the Save button.
5. A green box will appear above the field letting you know you have successfully created the page. From there, you can also click on the Edit the new page button.
6. The Edit Webpage page will load. Scroll down to the Article #1 section and click on the create new article button.
7. The Edit Article page will load for the new article that is attached to the new webpage. You can now build out the page by filling in the Display Title field (Checking the H1 checkbox if you want this to be the page's H1), and then the rest of the page's content in the Article body field.
8. Next, to save your changes, scroll down the page and click the Save & Preview button.
9. Important Note: Never click on the Publish Article button. It is for the blogging feature in the WEO Platform and not to be used on regular articles.
10. Now that you've created the new page, added the page's content, and saved it all, it's time to arrange where the page will be in the Site's Navigation. Scroll back up and follow the directions for Steps 1 and 2. Scroll to the bottom of the Website Pages in Navigation section, just before the Other Pages section. This is where you'll find your new page. Note that it will be in italics and will not be bold. This means the page is not live and is "hidden."
To relocate the page in the navigation, simply click on the up or down arrow buttons to the right of the Preview button for the page. If you want to move it out of the navigation entirely, click the down arrow until it moves into the Other Pages section.
11. Now that you have the page where you want it in the navigation (or not), it's time to make the page live. Click on the Edit button to the left of the Preview button. The Edit Webpage page will load again. In the Webpage Settings section, click on the Make Webpage visible button.
12. Now that you've made the page live, you have to force cache the site in order for the edit to show up on the webpage. And now you're all done with that new page, so on to the next one!
